Ep. 32: A librarian’s perspective on fake news

So many of us feel overwhelmed by the amount of constant news information. Throw “fake news” into the mix and you have the perfect recipe for a confused and exhausted citizenry.

But don’t panic because librarians are here to help! Bad information and fake news is actually nothing new and librarians have been teaching media literacy since the dawn of the profession.

Adult Services Librarian Haley Samuelson joins Nate on the podcast to clarify what it means to call something “fake news” and provides useful tips for any earnest news consumer.

Read Jean’s recent blog post, How to Spot Fake News, filled with even more helpful guidelines.

Register for the library’s fake news class in April.
